A Flexkeeping alternative for small hotels: housekeeping by guest choice

Considering housekeeping software, but what you really need is to know what cleaning the guest wants? With cleanQR, the guest chooses their cleaning with a QR code in the room. Reception and room attendants see the choice live.

A Flexkeeping alternative for small hotels: housekeeping by guest choice

Housekeeping software for a small hotel: what you actually need

You search for housekeeping software for a small hotel or guesthouse and come across Flexkeeping. Before you start looking for an alternative or comparing systems, ask yourself a simpler question. What is actually not working in your housekeeping today?

Often the missing piece is simply information. The room attendant does not know whether the guest wants cleaning. She knocks on the door and cleans a room where the guest would happily have skipped it. Then she runs short of time elsewhere.

Whether you need a full system or a smaller tool depends on what you want to solve. If all you need is for the guest to say what cleaning they want and for attendants to see it in the morning, you can start with a smaller step.

Where it hurts today

  • Attendants clean rooms where the guest did not want cleaning, and run short of time elsewhere.
  • Knocking disturbs guests who are still asleep or working.
  • Door-handle signs get lost, and the attendant learns the guest's wish only in the corridor.
  • Reception spends the morning collecting requests by phone and passing them on.
  • You hear about a problem in the room late, or not at all.
  • You are not sure whether this means rolling out a whole new system.

What cleanQR does

Guest chooses the cleaning

Every room has a QR code. The guest scans it with their phone and, with nothing to install, chooses full cleaning, eco (towel change only) or privacy (no cleaning today). The hotel can customise the options, up to 5. Choices can be made until the cut-off time, 8:00 by default.

Live overview for reception and attendants

Reception and room attendants see choices live. Attendants just need a link, no account, with an optional PIN. In the morning you can download a daily list as a PDF, and reception can override a choice on the guest's behalf.

Issue reporting

Through the same QR code, the guest reports an issue in one of 7 categories. Alerts go by e-mail to up to 5 addresses. All issues are collected in a queue in the admin.

Room information board

Wi-Fi, breakfast, check-out, reception, parking and emergency contact in one place on the guest's phone. The board replaces the printed room folder.

Standalone, no integration

cleanQR does not need to connect to your hotel system. You enter your rooms once in the admin. You pay per hotel, not per room.

Misuse protection

The hotel can turn on a device lock, a daily change limit or a room PIN. This reduces the risk of someone who is not staying in the room changing the choice.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good Flexkeeping alternative for a small hotel?

It depends on what you need to solve. If the main goal is for the guest to say what cleaning they want and for attendants to see it live, cleanQR may be enough. It is designed for small hotels and guesthouses. Besides guest-choice cleaning, it handles issue reporting and a room information board.

When should I choose Flexkeeping or other housekeeping software?

If you want to run housekeeping and operations in one broader system, it makes sense to compare housekeeping software. cleanQR does not handle attendant task scheduling or cleaning inspections. Check the vendor's current offering for what Flexkeeping includes and what it costs.

Does the guest have to install an app?

No. The guest scans the QR code with their phone and makes the choice in the browser. No download and no login. The guest interface is in Czech and English.

Does cleanQR need to integrate with our hotel system?

No. cleanQR works on its own, without a PMS integration. You enter your rooms once in the admin, and reception can adjust choices at any time.

Does guest-choice housekeeping pay off?

By our estimates, every skipped clean saves attendant time, linen and energy. How much that means for you depends on your operation and how many guests use the option. It is always a rough estimate, not a promise.

When is cleanQR not a good fit?

In very small properties without housekeeping staff, where you talk to guests in person every day, simply asking is often enough. It also does not fit where rooms are not cleaned during the stay, such as apartments cleaned only after check-out. And if you need to manage shifts and the full workload of a housekeeping team, look for a broader system.
